Burbage Police. APPEAL. Be Aware Of Residential Burglary And Vehicle Theft, Graffiti And Dumped Vehicles.

We hope you are well. Bit of a longer message today, but this is to raise awareness and to hopefully prevent any further issues.  

Reported Crime and Appeals

Report that at around 03:00 on the morning of Monday 20th of July, 2 suspects were seen making attempts to enter a property. It appears they ran off from the Wesley Walk area towards Grove Road. If you have any CCTV of this incident, please get in touch. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk 26000429406

PLEASE call 999 immediately if you witness suspects making attempts to enter property as this is a crime in progress. This gives us the best opportunity to catch those involved and it may also prevent further residents becoming victims. 

We then received a report on Monday afternoon that a Skoda Fabia had been stolen from a driveway on Darley Road, between 03:00-04:00 on the morning of the 20th. Suspects have entered the property via opening the conservatory window, where they have taken keys and several other items. The vehicle was recovered by Police later that day. 26000429489. Report from the garage on Windsor Street that at 03:30 on the morning of the 20th, suspects made attempts to enter the property. Entry not gained and nothing taken. 26000434352

Report of damage to a shed where the wooden frame has been split in an attempt to gain entry, on De La Bere Crescent sometime between the 20th and 21st. Nothing taken at this time. 

If you have any CCTV around the above areas of Burbage, please take a look for the early hours of Monday the 20th 01:00-04:00, and pop me an email if you have any footage of suspicious persons/vehicle in the area. 

Report from Barley drive of a theft of a electric car charger from a driveway on the night of the 19th into the 20th. The item is described as a Audi charger, Bright yellow if you see one of these dumped around anywhere. If you have CCTV in this area, please get in touch. 26000430109. 

Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement

Over the past three weeks, we have once again seen an increase in reports of graffiti and criminal damage in the Featherstone Drive, Far Lash, Higham Way and Holt Road areas of Burbage.

While some may view graffiti as low-level damage, the reality is that it has a significant impact on our community. The cost of removing graffiti and repairing damage is running into thousands of pounds, affecting Burbage Parish Council, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, and local businesses, as well as the support given by residents in removing it (Thank you). This is money that could otherwise be spent on services and improvements that benefit everyone.

Officers have been carrying out increased patrols in the area, both on foot and in vehicles, and enquiries are ongoing.
As part of our investigation, a male has recently been arrested and subsequently released on police bail whilst enquiries continue. We are now seeking further evidence to help progress the investigation and identify anyone else who may be involved.

We are appealing for witnesses and any CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage from the affected areas, particularly during the evening and overnight hours over recent weeks.

We have received several reports of suspicious youths on motorbikes, electric bikes and scooters, in the areas of Atkins Way, Sketchley Road, Rugby Road and Coventry Road. We are completing patrols to identify those involved in a range of concerns such as road safety and drugs. 

We have also recovered a stolen vehicle from Burbage that was taken from another area. If you see an abandoned vehicle and have suspicions it may be stolen, please call Police where we will complete checks and get it recovered if it is stolen or involved in crime. 

We have seized a vehicle from Herford Way due to being abandoned, no tax or MOT. We continue to ask people not to use Burbage as a parking lot for unused vehicles. We will seize them as and when policing powers allow.  Crime prevention and issues to be aware of

As you can see from this week’s list of reported crime in Burbage, most of it happened in the early hours of Monday 20th (03:00-04:00). If you see anything suspicious PLEASE call Police immediately. If you could check any CCTV you have, please get in touch if you have any footage that may support our investigations, it appears these suspects have walked around the area making several attempts in this timeframe. Please continue to be mindful regarding leaving downstairs windows unlocked/open during the warm weather, when you are not in. A few of the recent burglaries which have been vehicle related have been via suspects reaching in and opening windows. 

Amazon Scam Alert (submitted by a resident to raise awarenss). 

Phone calls from people presenting themselves as Amazon workers. These calls can appear to be authentic, where they will ultimatley scam you out of money. This may involve a process of multip[le calls where they will build trust with you. Anyone of any age can fall foul of these types of scams as they are increasingly becoming harder to identify. 

Amazon says it never asks customers to download software, share remote access to devices, or make payments outside of its website or app.
